Mr. Williams has Addison's Disease. This life threatening disease causes fluctuations in hormone levels that can lead to loss of consciousness and death in some patients. Mr. Williams would benefit greatly by having a service dog trained to recognize sudden drops in hormone levels.

Service dogs with this training are rare and can cost more than $40,000 for the dog and training. In addition to the expense, service dogs can take two or more years to complete training.

Changes in hormone levels can occur suddenly, Mr. Williams needs constant adult supervision and needs to take his prescribed medication regularly. The addition of a properly trained service animal could provide Mr. Williams with a more independent lifestyle and could prove life saving.

I fully support Mr. Williams having a service animal to alert to Addison's crises if one can be located and trained .
